Hey guys, been a while.

Tue Nov 24, 2009, 2:57 PM
Hey, I'm here in my suite/dorm place and I am doing alright. I got a 360 over the summer, and before that I went to AX 2009. Both are amazing so far. I'm about to go home for Thanksgiving soon, so I just wanted to make a couple of quick reviews of recent games I got my greasy hands on:

1. Modern Warfare 2: Everything I thought it would be and a bit more. I didn't buy the game for the ridiculously short campaign or the controversial scene(which had me a bit rattled at first). I got it for the multi-player, and that's pretty much my thing with First-Person Shooters nowadays.

2. Borderlands: Once again, an FPS that I got for the multi-player. The Role-Playing Game elements are done pretty well. The only problem, it gets dull...REALLY QUICKLY. The humor is welcome touch, but that's not an attention holder that's present at all time.

3. Lost Planet: Horrible. HORRIBLE. HORRIBLE!!
- 1 dimensional characters
- Nauseating controls and camera
- Ridiculously stupid and downright awful story
- Gameplay gets dull really quickly
- Cheap enemies
- YOU ARE ALWAYS ALONE, this really becomes bothersome especially since there is so much room for Co-op. In other words, I felt that the maps were WAY too big for just one player.
- Not a challenge, just hard(Meaning that I had to put up with the bad controls, camera, and cheap enemies)
- Very generic weapons and mech designs. Save for one or two, and their names are just bad.
I'm begging and pleading to all that is creation that the sequel will be better. I played a demo of it, and it's alright. It seems to fix all the problems I had with it and it is 4 player co-op.

4. 358/2 Days: At first, I wasn't expecting much. I had to get it since it was on my favorite system ever, the DS. Ever since KH2, I've felt the series was going into the realms of what I hated about it most. I never liked reliving all of the stories from the Disney movies, since they would do it in such a shallow way. It didn't feel right to me, and they continued it in Chain of Memories and KH2. I would sometimes forget what the actual story was due to how much they want to get involved in the Disney stories. I also noticed how it was getting easy, a bit too easy. Not to mention that story was getting more and more convoluted as we went on and how Organization XIII seemed so poorly characterized.(They are supposed to be the guys behind everything so far and we kill them before their methods of doing everything become clear) Not to mention my growing lack of respect for Sora, Donald, Riku, Kairi, and Namine.

Then, I played it. Initially, I was put off by the first mission which was to get a treasure chest. As a continued on, it became addictive. I already technically knew the ending, but I had to see how they got there. My love for the series was rekindled. Not in the stuff mentioned above, I still don't like that, but my faith that the series will be something good as we go on. It also marks the first game/piece of media that has ever made me cry for any of the characters. I counted 3. I'm so glad no one saw me do it. Anyhow, it's pretty good. It's repetitive like the entire series, so fans will love it. :P

4. Mario Kart DS: I re-bought this game since I lost my old one. :(
It's still great.

5. BlazBlue: Fantastic. I like this a tad more than Guilty Gear, which was made by the same company. Story, characters, music, and overall design works pretty well. I can't wait for the sequel which was announced not long ago.

6. Shadow Complex: Metroid mixed with Metroid with a dash of Metroid wtih guns! In other words, really good.

Anyway, besides all of that, anime club has been really fun, and I've made a good amount of new friends. Hopefully I will pass my classes so I can stay with them.

  • Mood: Neutral
  • Listening to: Guilty Gear Korean soundtrack
  • Reading: Anything due for class
  • Watching: Dead Fantasy and it's sequels
  • Playing: Nothing at the moment
  • Eating: Dining Commons food. :/
  • Drinking: Cranberry Juice

Well, I was convinced to get one by my friends. I only planned to use the journals from time to time, but I get so busy that I usually forget that I have one of these. I used to do art, charcoal and stuff, but I got out of it due to laziness and other reasons.

Oh, and I'm doing decent. How about you?
